Natural gas pipeline intelligence since 2003

Enercast Inc. has monitored U.S. natural gas pipeline operations since 2003. We're a Denver, Colorado-based data company — not affiliated with any pipeline operator — that turns public FERC-mandated pipeline bulletins into real-time, AI-scored critical notices for energy traders and supply analysts.

Our History

Enercast Inc. and the enercast.com domain were established in 2003 in Denver, Colorado. Enercast originally aggregated natural gas market news and data and published fundamental analysis for traders. What started as a private messaging service for a handful of trading desks has since evolved — the updated Enercast is now focused on timely pipeline notice alerts, with an automated system covering major U.S. interstate pipelines and scoring each notice for severity and market impact within minutes of it posting. Enercast is owned and operated by Ben Smith Consulting, under founder and owner Ben Smith.

Note: Enercast Inc. (enercast.com) is a separate company from enercast GmbH (enercast.de), a German renewable-energy forecasting firm founded in 2011 — eight years after Enercast Inc. The two companies share a name by coincidence but operate in different industries and different countries.

What We Do

We scrape and monitor critical notices — force majeure declarations, capacity constraints, compressor outages, and maintenance alerts — across major U.S. interstate natural gas pipelines including Transco, El Paso Natural Gas (EPNG), ANR, Rockies Express, Tallgrass, Gulf South, NGPL, and others. Every notice is classified by event type, capacity impact (Bcf/d), likely market direction, and reroute potential, then delivered to subscribers within about five minutes of posting via the web dashboard, email, or Telegram.

Enercast is a data and alerting service. We source exclusively from public pipeline operator bulletins and are not affiliated with, and do not receive data directly from, any pipeline operator.
